Future Apple laptops could feature screens illuminated by the sun.
The computing giant has won a total of 20 patents with the US Patent and Trademark office, according to Patently Apple, several of which relate to solar technology. One such patent involves utilizing sunlight to light up a laptop's screen.
According to design images, the idea is that a back panel can be pulled down to gather sunlight, which can then be reflected back up to the rear of the screen, providing additional illumination. Since displays suck up a great deal of battery power, this use of sunlight could potentially be an efficient way to extend battery life.
